It is always saddening to hear about the number of trees being cut down every year. According to research published in Nature, 1.5 billion trees are chopped down every year, and approximately 46% of the world’s trees have been cleared over the past 12,000 years.

Based on research at Wageningen University (Netherlands), the startup developed a recipe to make pallets out of coconut husks waste. What better place to go to than Asia, where coconuts are massively produced? This ingenious idea hits several environmental milestones: it prevents wood chopping and creates a circular economy, and benefits local farmers with extra income when their coconut waste is bought. The company is now thriving with 22 employees, both in Asia and the Netherlands!
