Just One Ocean is a charity working to raise awareness of the issues facing the world’s marine and coastal environments and to conserve them, operating alongside NGOs, governments, businesses and local communities to enagage and educate the public and to directly deal with problems from plastic pollution and overfishing to habitat destruction and whaling.

Inspired by the Arthur C. Clarke quotation “How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is quite clearly Ocean”, the organisation also undertakes reasearch such as its Big Microplastics Survey and helps to organise beach cleans around the world.  Through its work with volunteer scientists, it has become a member of the European Citizen Science Association, and recent engagement work includes helping nursery chain Tops Day Nurseries gain Surfers Against Sewage’s Plastic Free Schools status.
