The National Forest is a charity promoting reforestation in the Midlands of the UK, spanning Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, restoring landscapes blighted by mining and heavy industry in order to return them to farmland and woodland.  To date it has planted nearly nine million trees, which as well as the environmental benefit has created local jobs and boosted the economy through tourism.

As well as maintaining and extending the woodland it has already established, and conserving its wildlife, the organisation works to promote sustainable development, farming and other rural businesses, with the forests helping to prevent local flooding and the local communities living and working in a more sustainable and healthy environment.
