The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organisation developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Its ambitious aim is to remove 90% of marine plastic via a fleet of huge ‘cleanup systems’ in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch; it has also developed ‘interceptors’ to catch plastic in rivers before it enters the sea.
