The Vayyu Foundation is a UK-based charity which works to eliminate ocean plastic pollution, as well as raising awareness of the Dalit ‘Untouchable’ communities in India.  Its staff and volunteers remove plastic waste from canals, rivers and the sea, as well as forging partnerships with local councils, governments and companies to bring about policy change and seek technological solutions to plastic pollution.

Its projects include the international clean-up scheme U |Ocean, which aims to remove 1 billion kilograms of plastic from the sea and waterways by 2030, promoted on social media with the hashtag #1BillionKilos.  It also runs the Wellbeing Through Environmental Mindfulness (WTEM) project, where local groups clean plastic litter from waterways, providing people with a social outlet as well as an environmental one.
