TREE – Together Restoring Economic Empowerment – is an organisation advocating on behalf of people of colour who suffer economic and environmental inequalities and bias in the media. It highlights the issues affecting communities in the US – where three out of four people of colour live near toxic waste facilities – and supports them with legal and policy action plans. The organisation also works in the community through financial literacy programmes.
Recent work includes environmental reports, such as on polluted neighbourhoods in the US and how these are disproportionately affecting the health of people of colour.
Type of organisation: non-profit, partly funded by the Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment
