Coral Restoration Foundation is the world’s biggest non-profit organisation working to restore coral reefs globally.  As well as reviving reefs, it plays an educational role on the importance of the ocean via its dive programmes, internships and its Exploration Center in Florida, and supports scientific research and coral monitoring in partnership with government agencies, universities and NGOs.  It also recruits Citizen Scientists, who sign up to provide the foundation with their observations of reefs made on recreational Scuba dives.

The organisation grows new coral in offshore nurseries, and plants them at selected sites.  When a site has reached a certain state of recovery, it is able to spawn again and become a healthy, self-sustaining colony.
