Eden Reforestation Projects employs villagers living in areas heavily impacted by deforestation to help them sustainably plant, grow and protect new forests. The aim is to plant at least 500 million trees each year by 2025, and to lift affected communities out of extreme poverty. It operates with farmers in Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique and Kenya.
After starting in Ethiopia in 2005, where more than 12 million trees were planted, the organisation most recently began planting in Mozambique, where it intends to plant four million trees in its first year alone.
