The Mangrove Action Project (MAP) is a nonprofit which brings collaborative and innovative solutions to conserving and restoring Earth’s invaluable mangrove forests. Mangroves are one of the world’s most important ecosystems.  From combating climate change to protecting fisheries and coastlines around the world, they are one of the world’s most vital and interconnected environments.

Working alongside mangrove ecologists, local NGOs and local communities, MAP promotes the Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) methodology – an economical and efficient way for mangrove restoration that follows basic natural processes.  This greatly increases the effective restoration of biodiversity to a degraded ecosystem, helping to counter increased storm surges, rising seas, as well as the root causes of climate change.

Type of organisation: non-profit company
