If your business uses packaging to distribute its products and wants an alternative to plastic wrapping, then check out Aquapak.
The company’s Hydropol packaging is made from polyvinyl alcohol, which is a water-soluble synthetic polymer that is non-toxic and biodegradable. It reacts to water at a temperature of around 30ºC, at which point it dissolves (similar to the material often used to wrap dishwasher tablets).
Aquapak’s material has already been adopted for laundry bags, garment bags and infection control (hazardous waste) bags, and is being used by anaerobic digestion companies for collecting and transporting food waste.
The company says the product is also ideal for wrapping food, and has potential uses in applications such as washing machine tablets and aprons and gloves.
